Finish is where most tapware decisions are actually made, and it is where a screen lies to you. Matte black reads harder in a real room than it does in a photograph. Brushed nickel is warmer than chrome and hides water marks better, which is why a brushed nickel kitchen mixer and a matching sink mixer are two of the most asked for items on the floor. Brushed gold has warmth without going brassy. Gun metal sits between black and bronze. Modern brass and nickel plated turn up across some ranges too, and chrome is still the easiest to match later.
